[glow=red,2,300] The Official G.G. Doubles Tournament[/glow]
A tournament designed primarily for fun, and also to foster inter-dependence among players!
A team is made up of two players. The team shall remain these two players for the duration of the tournament; no “subbing” is allowed!
Players can decide who defends and who attacks; however, given the deployment rules, and the lack of time limits, this is not very important. Maps too can be decided upon the hosts perogative; however, blatantly biased maps should be avoided.
Now there is one major rule that MUST BE FOLLOWED in this tournament:
To foster interdependence, and to encourage working together, the tournament will be played Command Style.
Player Number One will buy all of the Line Infantry and Light/Rifle Infantry.
Player Two will buy the Cavalry, Artillery, and Foot Guard Infantry.
* NOTE * Generals are REQUIRED FOR BOTH PLAYERS, and artillery is limited to two pieces per side. There are NO GUARD LIMITS. If there is question on what is considered a Guard unit, know that all units designated Guard and Grenadier are considered Guard, as well as some very select others (Highlanders.) Swiss Legion are considered Line infantry. If in doubt, simply discuss with your opponent.
The players MAY switch commands between games; however, they may NOT change up what units they buy in-game.
Each Doubles Team is given 24,000 Francs to buy their army; i.e. 12,000 francs per player. They each buy as many or as few units as they wish! Both players must choose the SAME faction, so that players cannot take advantage of particular faction strengths and avoid the same faction weaknesses.
PLEASE NOTE:
Deployment requires that ALL UNITS on both sides be deployed at the EXTREME REAR of the field. This is done for four reasons. First, it allows players time to get the different segments of their armies into place. Second, it makes players deploy on the move, which adds a little more tension and excitement to the game. Third, it causes more of the battlefields to be used. Finally, it prevents any sort of "rush" where one side happens to be able to set up their units in such a way that they can get all their Guard and Cavalry near the weaker enemy and then simply rush one opposing player and destroy their command. Command style requires that players do have the chance to link up, after all.
A win gives a team 3 points. A loss gives a team 1 point. Players are required to post their results in the appropriate forums; the winners of the game should post, and the losers should then confirm.
The top three teams at the end of the tournament time frame get a little reward that should please any NTW player!
The tournament will begin in about two weeks. In the meantime, prospective teams should sign up in the post titled “Doubles Teams Sign-Ups.”
So find yourself a friend to take the field with, and have fun beating on random players, opposing clans… and even your own Regimental buddies!
Enjoy!
