Ive had a passion for learning about the civil for all my life and been re-enacting the Civil War for 8 years as a trooper in the 8th Illinois Cavalry.
I believe these units and the stats that should go with them will be most rewarding for knowledge and fun to be put together to help simulate these legendary men of American History.
Let us Start with my favorite Brigade
The Irish Brigade
The Irish Briage started not as a brigade but just a single regiment of militia...who were only supposed to be in service for 90 days!! (so much for that lol) The beginning of the soon to be irish brigade was the "legendary" 69th New York who fought gallantly at Bull Run.
Soon after Bull the 63rd and 88th New York joined with the 69th making the Irish Brigade.
Later the 29th Massachusetts was put into the Irish Brigade, 29th was not Irish but were in the Irish Brigade to strengthn it.
Afterwards the 116th Pennsylvania Infantry joined the Irish Brigade, the 116th had many irishmen from Philadelphia
In due time, the 29th Massachusetts was traded for another Irish regiment, the 28th Massachusetts.
The Irish Brigade also had the irish 7th New York heavy artillery who later became the 4th New York
So in total
there were 5 irish infantry regiments and a irish battery of heavy artillery in the Irish Brigade
I went into great detail for the irish brigade so that you all can realize that the Irish Brigade consisted of my of the Legnendary Regiments you have read in the history books.
It would be a great to add this awesome Brigade into the Mod.
Heres my Unit Stat Ideas
Name: The Irish Brigade
Unit Size: huge (say that the game is average of 100 men per unit of infantry...lets have the irish Brigade be 120)
The reason for the bigger size is because were trying to simulate a Brigade here...if a larger size is possible I say go for it...I know in AWI the minutemen size is big can we make it bigger? perhaps even to 150?
Unit Cost: 1000
The reason for the huge cost is because of the size of the single unit to buy and the good stats it comes with..remember this is like a Brigade a person is buying..I think this high price will give the Irish Brigade unit a more unique place on the battle field and will restrict players from buying 4 Irish Brigades for a MP game
I dident want to give more stats...because there is still more to discuss beforehand...such as...what will Union Infantry and Confederate Infantry base stats will be at...etc...and from there we can build off from there
here is more pictures of the Irish Brigade
The Irish at Antietnam
Malvrens Hill
Gettysburg - the wheatfield
The Irish Brigade is a most rewarding UNIT TYPE to add into a American Civil War mod...please consider them with all respects
Cheers
