I'm a keen walker, and its always been one of my call it dreams to walk along the northern Spanish pilgrim path called the Comino De Santiago. Well, decided now the times to have a go, so come Sept (might change, still in the planning stage) I'll be setting off from the French border town of Roncesvalles, normally it would take around 5 weeks to walk the distance from Roncesvalles to Santiago, but seeing as I can only get three weeks off work I'm going to bus a few stages. I hope to walk at least 180 miles of the walk. So I'll be looking if my journey crosses any old Napoleonic battle sites

Well... it goes back to the days of Crusade, one of three main pilgrim paths. one to Jeruslem (we all know that one ) One to Rome itself. And one to Santiago where it is said the remains of St James are said to be. Now all you Sharp fans should know about the Flag of St James . It was also symbolic in the fight against the moors. He was already believed to have been the evangelist of Spain. Its a true pilgimage, no hotels, you stay in refugio's simple hostels with the very basic facilities, these are shattered about the path about every 10-15 miles along the trail. You have a pilgrims passport which is stamped along the way at the various points could be a church, refugio or Cathedral. Its journey of discovery, and one I look forward to. This is a map of the route I'll be starting at square 17. www.caminosantiago.org/cpperegrino/cpplanos/guiaplanos.html
