Ahoy there Gents.

GGSeaDogg in for a 'run' ashore.
What wiv the worms, barnacles and all the storms that visited the west Atlantic this past season ye had to figure I'd wash up somewhere.

Actually, Ive at last weathered the gales caused by my last computer crash after an electrical storm hit town last year while I was out sailing. We watched the front pass to the north of us during a thursday evening club race on the Nanticoke River. We were enjoying some refreshments at the little Bar we always invade after when we heard of some major power failures in Salisbury. ( the place is called Boonies if you ever come to the Eastern Shore of Maryland- and I swear you will never find a fatter, or tastier Rockfish sandwich anywhere in the world for $6.99- that two full fillets of a 21" fish on a big bun; "sware da Gawd it is!) Well yea, this place is far enough 'down the neck' that even cell phones dont work.
Anyways, home I come anxious to fire up the old machine and theres nuthin. Bummers.

Now I have a brand new pc and am reinstalling the works. I'm just blown away at how good things looks, plenty of speed and memory, not a spec of lag so far.
I have also started to look over RTW and am pleased to see that NTW2 is on the horizon. I am working now to re(remember how!) to install and update Vike with copies for NTW1 & ATW, which Im also very anxious to see and hope to see and hear from all u buggers soon.

TRL, Irish and all u old blokes, its great to see the work youve done while Ive been playing on the Bay. This is a grand site and it seems youve pressed more than a few souls into active service. Let me know what youre up to fellas.

I had forgotten my sign in information so I joined the forum tonite as my old sailing hack - TErmite. But yall knew me as SeaDogg and I'll keep him breathing iffen he sobers up enough and recovers from ole friend the landsickness.

Greetings again; friends and strangers. GG Olaf and several others have tried to add me to their msn lists during my time away and it is true that I have not allowed any contact up to this time. Im sure it has been confusing to see my name on the msn list, yet to observe the "inactive" next to my name in the recruiting forum.

To be fair I would like to explain that the pc I have been using for the last year could not possibly run these games, and it had so many bugs and problems that I was struggling continously just to keep it going with out crashing, in order to still get some basic email.
I understand that people who added me were simply looking for opponents and did not know that I was not an active player at that time.

At any rate, I have a lot of catching up to do with patches and reinstalling and obviously my play ability will have suffered while Ive been at sea so NONE of u will have a hard time kicking my arse back into shape Im sure. If anyone wants to add me to their email and MSN messenger lists now and check on my progress towards online play Id be happy to pummel you with some much-needed questions.

Enuff of this sensitivity training, Ive go downloads to finish.

I have successfully installed and patched Vike to 2.01 and made a pair of copy files. I also successfully installed RTW and have played it online the last couple days. This PC is light years faster than what I used to have and I am seeing XP for the first time so i have a steep learning curve at the moment.

I dl'd NTW 1 last nite b4 hitting the hammock and when I looked at it this morning it said it could not be extracted due to a file corruption or incomplete something or other. Ive had a long work day so Im just back home now and will be looking to see if I have to start all over or if theres something I just dont know how to do in windows xp.

If anyone has free time, please add me to your msn list so I can ask a few questions.
I wanna shoot some cannon soon before my head explodes.

Mmm happens sometimes - the file gets corrupted while dl'ing. Usually you have to dl it again. Don't use any dl accelerators just to be on the safe side.

I suspect the problem lay with all the lives I' ve lived in gamespy thruout the years( it seems like centuries anyway, since Age of Sail II and Privateer's Bounty).
I have tried to be disciplined and precise with my notes, sign in logs and cd keys and have still had trouble. So let that be a lesson to all of you yungguns who think u can remember everything thing.-- Only your ex-wife will have a better memory of your many actions and faults than your computer. ARRGGGG!!

ANyway, I also struggled half of this saturday with my msn accnt. No explanantion for that and that has been the one thing Ive been able to keep with me thru the crash. But I am still learning things abt windowx xp so in a pinch I sometimes clik too soon or dont think all my steps thru. I finally got that resolved today, found that my Nap install really did exist where I put it( i was doubtful) and only spent 4 or 5 hours trying to get on line. I finally was able to do so with a new signin name so now the Dog has devolved to its cousin the Crab ( I am a Cancer dude so thats not so terrible). I would like to remain SeaDogg here if you all dont mind and if the name is a little stealthy perhaps the confusion will occasionally be to our mutual benefit. haha.

Well, hope to see u all on line tomorrow. I will check into multiplayer occasionally and see if anyone shows, and mean time get some single play practice in.

Its very gratifying to see this group not just hanging in but growing. I have fond memories of those first months meeting ThinRedLine and Ryan. We had some tussles and some laughs. I am honored to recalled the first discussions abt GG as a quality name for an NTW group and to have been there.

I recentley returned also Seadogg and also had a few teething problems with getting online.

You have probably done all this but thought I may as well mention what I had to do.

Fresh install of MTW then a nightmare with VI as my disc was cracked, but eventually an install of that then the patch, the I downloaded the full v6 (it all that is needed for a fresh install)

came to logging on to mp, stupid cd key I did all caps with the dashes then I found that I could not log on as [GG]Tuncarl.

So started gamespy from desktop and had to install the latest version. Managed to log in to GS with my usual online name. There you have a drag down menu of my log in names with that password and turns out I should have put an extra "L" on [GG]Tuncarl.

Like I say you probably done all this but just in case
