Just wanted to get some of your thoughts... what do you think of NTW2 so far? What sorts of things would you like to see changed or made for the next versions?

The game is great.
I dont like what I see some players doing already by imposing arbitrary rules and limiting the money to be used. My rant will continue elsewhere cause I aint goin that way. lol
I ''assume'' that the British army is soon to arrive?

I absolutely detest Polish Guard Lancers. Yet to have come out in a favourable engagement with them. Even against enemy cavalry.
I also don't like that sometimes I can't tell if my artillery is actually firing or not, with the same applying for my men.

Well, the real world is keeping me busy, but I do plan to get Rome and NTW installed soon (maybe tomorrow?).
I look forward to trying it out and getting together with the good old GG clan.
Soon!

its pretty good overall, i few things i hate tho - the players who take armies comparised of nothing but guards and jeagers - cavalry's lack of penetrating power when charging - jeagers effectiveness in hand to hand combat, i've seen them route grenadiers without much support being needed - the old guard seem a bit under powered for the money you have to fork out to get them. Very often i see them route just as they make impact with the enemy and while still having 80 or so guys left. The stats look awesome but somehow it just doesn't seem to translate out onto the field

The game looks wonderful, BUT it still use's the Rome engine and is a bit messy. The charge for Infantry seems a little hit and miss. Was really looking forward to this release, but for me something is sadly missing in the game.

Yeah, charges can take a little while to hit home, and if you take a volley during it it can really mess things up... and the fact that you can shoot into close combat can really screw things up too. The next version (with the british) will have a few fixes that should help smooth out gameplay a bit tho!

Well, the next version is out and some things were fixed and some not. Charges are a secondary field in NTW in my opinion. Long and medium range fighting is a priority. Could you give me some info about the mod progress though cause I have no idea? I've figured that there was a NTW1 before NTW2, what were the differences? Was it based on another game?

While NTW2 is based on Rome Total War NTW1 is based on it's predecessor Medieval Total War - Viking Invasion, and the last/latest(?) version (v7) of that mod is actually in beta testing right now so it should soon be released. Unlike NTW2 NTW1 includes complete single player campaigns. [GG]LvD

Werent there some cavalry, dragoons or somthing that carried pistols or carbines? Can mounted archers be modded to represent these?

In my humble opinion, NTW1 still plays better than NTW2. I think NTW2 will be very good, but needs some time to mature:)
As for the horse archer thing, there was some talk about that at the Lordz... wouldnt work very well.
