This came off of a board somewhere, but I can't remember where, so I can't give proper credit.

Units moral can determine the difference between total victory or defeate. I will now put up a list that can help to calculate moral.
Moral State / Moral Value Range
Impetuous 10 and above
Steady 2 to 14
Uncertain -5 to 5
Wavering -14 to -5
Routing Less than -6
Penalty Factors
Disordered or Loose Formation
units in loose formation or in disorderd ranks suffer -2 moral
Outnumberd By Enemy Forces
2 to 1 Suffer -4 moral
10 to 1 Suffer as large as -12
Also factored is quality and speed of enemy too.
Threats To Flanks
-2 moral penalty if one flank is threatened
-6 moral penalty if 2 flanks or 1 flank and rear is threatened
-4 moral penalty if charged into flank
-6 moral penalty if infantry is charged into flank by calvery
-8 moral penalty if hidden unit is charged into flank
Generals Death
-8 moral penalty
then only -2 moral penaly after a few secounds
(dosen't apply to highly disciplined units)
Routing Friends
up to -12 moral penalty if 2 units are routed
(only applys to units of equal or higher level of others)
Casualties
10% casualty rate suffer -2 moral
50% casualty rate suffer -8 moral
80% and higher casualty rate suffer -12 moral
Taking Enemy Fire
being shot at by missle suffer -2 moral
plus additonal -4 moral if shot at by weapons
that create fear
Skirmishing
missle units being pursued long distances as fast as they are suffer -6 moral
Moral drops by another -6 moral
if skirmishers run out of ammo
Fatigue
Very tired units suffer -3 moral
Exahsted units suffer -6 moral
Completely Exahsted units suffer -8 moral
Losing
up to -8 moral loss depending on how badly your lossing
For infantry losing to calvery another -6 moral is possible
Possitive Factors (now that the bad is out of the way)
Protected Flanks
+4 moral for flanks that are protected
No Retreat Possible (only in SP mode)
When troops fight in province that they can't escape from they all gain +8 moral
Rally/No Enemy Nearby (clicking rally button)
+8 moral for rallying
+4 moral with no nearby enemys
Enemy Routing
+8 moral when 2 enemy units are routed
+4 moral for outnumbering enemy troops
Uphill Position
+2 moral for being higher up hill than enemys
Winning
If a unit is winning it can get the highest moral bonus of +6
Impetuous Charge
+4 moral for unit that charges on its own
Outnumber Nearby Enemy
3 to 1 advantage +4 moral to nearby units
Valor
+2 moral for every point of valor
Proximity to General
units withing 50 meters of General gain +1 moral for every 2 stars the General has
Generals unit itself gains automatic +2 moral
Eaiser Game Settings (only in SP mode)
+4 moral to units when game is set on easy mode
+12 moral to units when moral realism setting is turned off
NON - ELITE or DISCIPLINED = Lose Morale if ANYONE Routs ( proximity matters I think ) and if the General is either Routed or Killed.
ELITE STATUS = Ignore Routers who are not Elite.
DISCIPLINED = Ignore Routers who are not Elite OR Disciplined ! AND ' Not Panicked by Death of General '.
BUT...ELITE Troops WILL lose Morale ONLY when ELITE Troops are Routed and the General either routs or dies ! .....BUT DISCIPLINED Troops will lose Morale when either ELITE or DISCIPLINED troops are Routed but NOT the General dying !! So it's a double edged sword because the ' Elite ' troops suffer more than the Disciplined ones if the General dies Oh man this can make your head spin
So the question now arises when modding units is...Which units should be Just Elite, which should be the better Disciplined and then which should be the ultimate BOTH Elite and Disciplined. In my opinion ( and I don't know enough about specialised National Troops...so this is just an overall semi-judgement ! ) in fact this knowledge helps alot when deciding final Pricing ! IMO, A rough GUIDE could look like this:
INFANTRY:
NOT ELITE or DISCIPLINED: Milita, Reserves, Rebels and all standard Line Infantry. ( which could mean a Costing's drop for LINE ? )
DISCIPLINED: Light Infantry, KGL Line and Light Infantry, Brunswickers and Highlanders.
ELITE and DISCIPLINED: Grenadiers, Young Guard, Rifles, Tirallieurs, Voltiguers and Rifles / Jaeger's.
ELITE: Guard Infantry, Middle Guard, Old Guard, Guard Rifles ( ie:Prussian ) and GreenJacket's.
CAVALRY:
Not ELITE or DISCIPLINED: Uhlans, Hussars, Chassuers, Dragoons, Saharan, Ottoman Light, Dutch and Brunswick Hussars and Dragoons.
DISCIPLINED: KGL Hussars, KGL Dragoons, French Lancers, , ALL Cuirassiers and Caribiniers, Camel's and Ottoman Cavalry.
ELITE: ALL Guard Hussars, Guard Dragoons, Guard Lancers, Guard Chassuers, English Hussars, Austrian Hussars, English Guard Dragoons, Polish Lancers, Royal Dragoons and French Guard Lancers.
ELITE and DISCIPLINED: ALL Guard Grenadiers, Lifeguards and Generals.
ARTILLERY: Hmmm most likely all DISCIPLINED.
