Was listening to the in-game chatter the other night, and people seemed to be implying that valour was affected in some way by the number of units.
I had thought it was influenced by units cost, and by the presence of a general on the field.
Was I wrong? if so - could valour be explained please?

Not sure about the number of units, The General unit affects valour. Many players online only pick valour and generally four max units of one type but it's all about experimenting and what you feel comfortable with. The more valour you got though the more chance your unit will stand and fight and if it does rout there is more chance it will rally too.

In MP the General effects Morale for units in proximaty, not valour.
Valour is purchased and is not adversely effected in-game though morale can be.
This has been discussed at some length at the Lordz and they can give you a pretty concise and correct answer to this sometimes confusing and shrouded question/answer...hehe.
Also, Fidd, welcome to the GG forums. Now please be so kind as to pick an Avatar.
Thank you,

I've never noticed where valour is purchased - this is what I'm trying to establish - where should i be looking?

TRL, I have been struck by curiousity - what exactly is the difference between valour and morale?
Is valour a "I will kill the whole lot of ye and never surrender!" sort of thing while morale is a "no matter how badly surrounded we are and how outmatched we shall be, we will never retreat!" sort of thing?

Good Morning Gents,
Okay, first, Valour is purchased in the Army Unit Purchasing Screen. When you have all accepted the game and the number of players you are taken to the Unit Purchasing Screen. Here you will be allowed to purchase troops and their upgrades, ie Weapon, Armour, and yes you guessed it, Valour.
Not looking at screen now but should be just above Unit grid...look for it you will find it.
Secondly, Valour and morale though similar in the language are very different in game. Again, valour is purchased and gives a few things you should know about. For every point of valour given to a unit it receives a +2Morale, +1 Defence and a +1 Attack. Not charge for some reason. So you see Valour will add to your overall battle worthiness and in fact add to the most important factor of the game...MORALE.
Morale for a given unit can be effected in many ways. I have not looked at the game stats for awhile, so perhaps von or Flippy can answer this better, but suffice to say that Morale goes up if you are near your general, if your flanks are protected, if you have just driven off an enemy, if you outnumber your opponent, etc.
Morale suffers when, outflanked, outnumbered, flanked to the rear, lost a melee fight, taking arty hits, general dies, etc., etc., etc.
I think you get the picture.
I look forward to playing with you gentlemen soon.
Keep your powder dry, don't spare the oil and remember...For Glory And Eagles!

S!
Thanks for the info, ThinRedLine. I do believe that someplace on this forum is a list of the morale modifiers; however, I am in a MASSIVE rush so cant locate it at the moment. If someone knows where it is and wants to post the link here, great, if not, I will find it and put it up here soon.
Thanks!
Ash
