I like the idea of having corps and a central commander on the field. Perhaps we could take it a step further and combine the two forms of gameplay? Have to inf/light corps, one cav corps, and have the commander command the guards? Sounds like fun to me.

the deploy matter can easily be solved, in my opinion, with an ongame deployment... and also consider the great sugestion of ashram to make it in the back of the zone, even for defenders (except for cav and light), and use more the complete extension of maps.

Commander's should be protected by Guards. That were what they were intended for, in most cases. Such as French Commander's should be escorted by French Grenadier Cavalry, or Guard Chasseur's, or British Commander's should be escorted by the Horse Guards, Prussian's by Guard Cuirassier, or Russians by the Guard Cossack's.

Generally I think that maybe the General should NOT have guard CAVALRY... I would be okay with Guard infantry, however; for example, a french General having 2 or 3 units of Old Guard, and the subordinates having maybe two Infantry corps (general, 8 line, 4 light, 1 young guard, 1 middle guard, 1 arty) and one cavalry corps (general, 4 light cav, 2 mid cav, 2 heavy cav, 1 elite heavy cav.)
This way two things would be achieved; first, the General could at least project some force on the battlefield, and powerful (if rather limited) force at that, force that would need to be very carefully applied ingame. Second, this could still restrict the General a bit, as it is harder to move around and get a look at the board with infantry than cav.
Personally I think cav accompanying the general just gives him too good eyes, if that makes sense.

Or maybe two infantry corps (inf/lights), a cav corps, and the general commands the guards?

Well, I would prefer that the general NOT have a fighting force. A cav unit maybe. But I expect the general will be moving a fair amount...infantry will be too slow and will be used as a main fighting force.

I agree AK. The point in this particular type of game (as I understand it) is for the CnC to be able to concentrate fully on the battle/giving orders and not on unit micro management.

I agree with Von and love AKs idea. The only problem i see, and its really a small one, is the money situation. Ofcourse the limit would be adjusted to compensate the players taking full armies however we have to becareful what unit(s) you give the commander. Should we limit his army to say one Guard Cav or few Guard Inf. You'll have some super units running around because the CnC will have a ton of money to pump into his units. Really the best way to go about it is give the CnC light cav or inf since he'll have the money to boost their stats up anyway.

I think the CnCs would just have to buy all the same things; for example, a valour 4 general and thats it.
