Sometimes i really wonder what planet these ideas come from?

Lets look at it from a whole.

Yes free speech is ok, good even, nothing worse than a big secret, but when that free speech is of a very biased and controversial nature then a line has to be drawn.

If i was to post current opinion on say... Americans in my country just now, you'd want me to hang from the nearest tree i bet? Or maybe just put me in chains and let me fry in the sun for 3 years whatever way you like to do things.

So what i'm trying to say is that there is a time and a place for your well valued opinions, but it really sickens me to see them in the GG forum.

What place is this for your political rantings? Fair enough you won't get banned and Buxford is here to back you up, but really, can you not find a political forum to join where people would love to have a debate with you and give as good as you get?

My message to all: This stuff scares new players away and it is just not reflecting good on GG, even if his disclaimer says what it does, he's on of your men and he barks like a rabid dog.

Instead of simply waving them off as 'Hardline'. They're hardline to you, but not to others. So, only your degree of political opinion matters and should be paid attention to, and not mine?

Just as he is posting his thoughts, so are you:) You say that if you spoke out against the United States you would be put in chains? Plenty of people say they dont like the United States; heck, I am an American and I HATE where our country is right now... positively DETEST it. AND I say it, CONSTANTLY, to ANYONE who will listen! No one is going to hang me from a tree for it tho:) Thats the whole idea of being free to speak!

And two important points:

First, you came here and read them, and then chose to respond. Its like the old "If you dont like what is on TV, just change the channel" argument. You had the choice not to read them, the choice not to respond... and decided you wanted to read them and wanted to respond:) Personally I read them, I agree or disagree, but I rarely respond; there are other places (with friends, primarily) that I get into my political debates:)

Second, for you to generalize and to take anything out of Sir Ds posts other than "I dont agree with Sir Ds opinions" is a VERY large leap of faith and a massive generalization... I am sure you dont clump all people together elsewhere because of what one person says, so why on earth would you do it here? I am VERY proud of the membership of GG, which ranges in ages from teenagers up to members in their 50s, in nationalities from Spaniards to Englishmen to Americans to Finns to Swedes, and in viewpoints from the FAR right to the FAR left. So why would you post that this single members post reflects anything on the regiment... unless you are just wanting to stir the pot...?

Remember, always; opinions are like not a very nice persons, everyone's got one:)

Scotaidh, havent met you before, but I have never heard of someone going into a clans forums and asking that one of the clans most active members gets booted because he is using the 'off topic' board to go....err...off topic. Are you going to be suggesting a change of clan name and possibly a choice of line infantry next? As Ash says, freedom of speech and as long as he isnt insulting anybody in the NTW community in a personal way, then he can post messages on how he beats his girlfriend for all I care.

Although you still dont have a girlfriend yet, do you Sir D? ;-)

There used to be a time, and i dont know when it stoped, that politcal disscussions were banned from this board. There's a good reason for it too. People often take offense and instead of debating they try and put their opponet down.

That being said, scot why dont you state your own opinion on the the disscusion instead of posting this complaint openly. If we keep things civil its not a problem.

Honestly i'd love to here your opinions, i wouldnt be surprised if i agreed with you.

Hey Scot, listen man I didnt mean any offence, all I was saying is that its not nice when somebody tries to get someone into 'trouble' for expressing their opinion, whatever it may be.

I certainly dont want you to stop posting and was just trying to make light of the situation. From my point of view, the more we all chill and just laugh it off, the happier we will all be. But that is just my opinion.

Well I must say that this situation is quite akward. On the other hand I agree with Ash, dab has the right to post things here, it is GG's forum after all. But on the other hand I also agree with scot, dabs posts are a bit stupid and aggressive, I understand his points and in some things I agree but still thats not the best way to bring forth ones opinions. But it's the GG's forum so it's their call.
