LvD, how does one do this? Do you need a patch?

Yep, patch to 1.03 or to 1.02.
It's very weird compared to MTW/VI, but much more 'impressive' in the abilities to put different armies on the maps and to change deployment areas.

And you need to add " -enable_editor" to your shortcut Target line and start the game from there to enable the editor. My shortcut looks like this: "D:\Program\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -enable_editor Note the space between the regular shortcut and the new command. I have only looked at it very little, but the map editor is very different but seems more powerful. E.g. you don't have texture tiles but paint the different textures on the ground (including trees) with brushes, so you can work much faster than in MTW. I'll see if I can make a map today. A bit busy looking at the "other stuff" you know Ash? Wink wink! [GG]LvD [GG]LvD

Gonna move this to the Rome forum...
I have to say, so far, I am very unimpressed by the Rome map/battle editor... its hard to see where the edges are, I just want to make maps and not battles, I cannot right click/delete the terrain features I put down, the ground leveller is awkward, you can't place terrain next to other terrain (i.e. use 4 fields joined to make one big field...)
So far, WICKED unimpressed. Seems shitety to me. Von, how goes it for you?

Sorry haven't had time to try yet but will most likely get around to it tomorrow. Maybe the crappy map editor explains the rather unimaginative maps of RTW then...
