Background
Napoleon Bonaparte has waged war across Europe for many bloody years. After having been defeated and sent into exile in 1814, he has now returned to France. The countries that have fought this man in the years past worry about what plans the Little Emperor has for the continent. These Allies decide to strike first. In the summer of 1815 the British, Dutch, and Prussians invade France, and the European War begins.
How the Campaign Will Work
The players will be divided into two teams. One team will consist of the French, and four Generals will take the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th French Divisions. They will choose the blue and white, blue and yellow, and the yellow and green color schemes.
The other team will consist of two British generals, 1 Dutch general, and 1 Prussian general. They will take two red color schemes for the British, a white scheme for the Dutch, and a black and yellow scheme for the Prussians.
There will be six battles in the campaign. Battles will be played beginning on Sunday, November 7 at 3:00 PM EST/8 PM GMT. Please see the Guards calendar for specifics about time and dates.
Each player will receive an email before the following weeks battle outlining the results from the last week and informing them of their mission and army list for the upcoming week so they may practice during the week with their campaign force.
There are new and specific maps for each of the campaign games. These will be distributed by [GG]Ashram and [GG]ThinRedLine to their respective forces on MSN. PLEASE DO NOT PLAY ON OR VIEW THE MAPS until the official game; we are trying to keep some surprises after all ;D
As for force selection, on the day of the game, each team will take the maximum points. Each player will then select exactly the force outlined for them in their respective army list. Lists have been balanced to reflect defensive positions and story elements, as well as some tactical elements (what with some commands leaning towards skirmishing, others towards cavalry, and others towards infantry.)
Winners of a battle will receive bonuses in the upcoming games as outlined in their specific weekly updates.
On buying units
Each side should be given 99,999 points in EVERY battle. Each person then buys the units listed in his or hers Army List. Any unit except artillery may be chosen as the general.
Please note: on the army lists that will be emailed to each member, the first number with the parentheses is the total number of units that should be bought. V stands for valour and w. stands for weapon. Therefore, the following entry: (4) French Line Infantry v.2 w.1 would represent buying four French Line Infantry units, each with a valour of 2 and weapon of 1.
Deployment
All attackers must deploy in the rear third of their deployment zone unless otherwise specified. Defenders may defend wherever they wish unless otherwise specified.
Vocabulary
Batteries: A battery consists of TWO units; one unit of long ranged artillery as specified in the list (4lb, 8lb, or 12lb) and one unit of canister. The units must, at all times, be grouped, and then the group must be put in group formation double line. Please make sure you understand this rule!
Many thanks to TRL and VonDoblen for their contributions of maps!
