The 2nd GG Campaign Expansion Patch!

We are happy to announce a special surprise for players who are registered for the 2nd Grenadier Guards Online MP NTW Campaign - The Eastern Alliance, 1816-1818 AD.

With an overwhelming thank you to the people who made it possible, the Grenadier Guards are happy to announce the imminent release of a mod for your Napoleonic Total War game to bring you straight to the battlefields of France and its neighbors as the Russian and Austrian empires decend upon Western Europe.

This mod will be simple to install and will not affect your regular NTW Eras. Instead, it will add a NEW era, Eastern Alliance, to your choices. This new era will be playable in multiplayer only as it is intended to compliment the Eastern Alliance Campaign, but will feature the following modifications:

*An entirely new playable faction, Die Frei Army, which combines elements of Saxony, the Confederation of the Rhine, and Bavaria, three states that stood between the invading Russian and Austrian armies and beleagured France.

*New units for old factions, including Pavlovski Lifeguard Grenadiers for the Russians and Austrian Jaeger Guard Infantry for the Austrians.

*Reskins, including one that will make the green waves of Russian troops far more green!

*And finally, in a nod to the clans and regiments that add so much to the NTW MP experience, you will finally be able to take these regiments to war. The Grenadier Guards, Horse Guards, The Imperial Guards, the Royal Foot Guards... all will march to war with their respective armies... led, of course, by the General, the Lordz, atop their splendid horses.

All registered players in the 2nd Grenadier Guards Online MP NTW Campaign - The Eastern Alliance, 1816-1818 AD, will get this download free, and of course can continue to play smaller Eastern Alliance battles together even after the end of the War.

This mod will be available for general release in about a week. As soon as it is available we will post it in these forums and send it to registered players via MSN Messenger or email.

Of course, a *massive* thanks to the Lordz, who brought Napoleonic Total War and thus this campaign to life, and in particular Lord Shand, who selflessly offered his services for this project. Thanks also to the many Grenadier Guards (TRL, Flippy, Von Doblen, AndrewKent) who helped behind the scenes. And of course, thanks to you for giving me someone to play against:)

will the use of a particular unit (TIG,HG,GG,RFG) be restricted to use by the clan??

Also for a touch of realism plz make a flippy unit in the GG... maybe special moves include Tantrum.... just kidding flip.

Furthermore i would like to be portrait as a giant, i will settle for nothing less than a 15 foot me, with a 60 ton horse to match ... and maybe a bazuka

i would also like to suggest giving the GGs a special white flag... just in case maybe also an ability to go with it, code named operation HGs are coming.

No, the units wont be limited, if only because there is no way to do that. However, we can always make MP rules ourselves to restrict their use to the proper clans... this won't effect the balance of any of the factions.

Due to a couple of last minute additions and changes, it might be another 3 or 4 days... Lord Shand recently moved, so he was slowed by Real Life!

I will email everyone the patch and also make it available for sharing as soon as it is available.

I can no longer play regular NTW MP games since applying the patch. It was my understanding that this would not cause a version error.

So...I guess it is either play only the campaign, or reinstall everything to be able to play v5.03 ntw?

Or is it just me?

Anybody else who installed the patch having this problem?

Hm you should not have any problems; I have the test patch myself, no problems, and I think other people can play too... maybe try playing a solo game on Regular NTW era, THEN try a MP game; that might force your game back to realizing what is going on. Let me email Lord Shand with all of the testers emails attached; of the test players, anyone else having these troubles?

Yes, appears it is just me. I tried going into regular offline ntw and then joining a MP game...but no luck.

All I did was unzip into the TotalWar directory. Then we played Eastern Alliance variant succesfully. But today I tried games with several different hosts and got version conflict in all cases.

I'm reinstalling now.

Yes, sorry, just a few have it at the moment, thanks to a chance at online late night testing... a few tiny problems, but things are fine:) The Real Deal will actually be around later this week, or possibly the weekend:)

(I know I said that last weekend, but I am not a reliable source:) )

(But this time I mean it.)

In the meantime, if people would like to play a campaign test game, pls do use the Test Weekday Scenario I sent out earlier... they will work fine; you just make up the teams when you play:)
