Idea of mine

Hi all, know i dont know if this is the rigth place to post this but i looked at the discription of each forum section and this seemd the most apropiate (move if you feel nesesary), and i dint post in The lordz forum cuz they are experiancing technical problems and i really wanted to get the idead off my head.

Anyway after seeing an old movie (black and white thats how old) yesterday about the inglish and their colonies in africa i got to thinking about a mod "Colonial Total war"!!!! know i know that the lordz are really busy whit NTW2 and AWI and ACW and will be for maby the next couple of years but i just wanted to plant the seeds of it maybe in a few years i can see my mod idead come true.

Know as my knolege of this is limited to a special i saw About rorkes drift on the history channel i dont know much about this time but maybe you could have the European factions units(english, French etc.) be really expensive and small (60 soldiers) because they have firearms, cannons, and better calvalry and the native factions [tribes (zulus, etc.), muslim, indian] have really big cheap units (200 soldiers) that are better in melee, and faster and have a higer moral because they are proud warrios and not payed soldiers. And maybe a campmap of africa and parts of the middle east would be cool.

i now this mite not be possible because you are busy, but i just wanted to give you my idea.

Personally I have ALWAYS wanted a Zulu version; I think that would rock!

Only one problem with Colonial Total War; the unit creation (a lot would have to be created from scratch.) Given that you would need at least British, Indians, Zulu, and maybe an East Asian faction of one sort or another (Chinese?) and I am sure a host others, it would be tough to make them all:(

If there are some you could use from MTW tho that would help...?

Well as i said i really dont know anything about modding or this period save for what ive seen in the History channel, i just wanted to plant the idea so in the future you may consider making. as for know i will just play as the brithish vs. the turks on desert maps.

The Nubian Spearmen could be used as Zulu Warriors.

Mongol Infantrymen could be used as Chinese Infantry.

And the Musketeer/Arquebusier from the Shogun mod for MTW could be used as Chinese Bannermen.

It's all possible, there's nothing really stopping us, save for the fact that it would take a good while to get the Nubian Spearmen in to NTW, as well as the others. Give me until next Friday, and I'll attempt a working model of Nubian Spearmen against British Infantry.

I actually had ideas about this when The Lordz began work on ACW. Never actually thought about following it through. Think anyone would play it, though? If no one would even touch it, I'm not even going to start on it. Not worth it.

I would definitely play a Zulu TW I would have thought the Crimean War would have been easier to do though and that one would be interesting.

Hi,
I too have been thinking of a Colonial Mod.
Am VERY new to modding (having been overawed by the challenges for some time) but have been tinkering with a mix of MTW/NTW for personal custom battle use. Indian Mutiny/NWF would be my aim, but this month have started trying to get a very basic Zulu War variant up & running - with mixed success so far (probably making some very basic mistakes).
I would certainly be interested in variants of MTW/NTW (not RTW though - got bored very quicly, despite great graphics).
