Ok, bad-ass WWII-era weaponry trumps computer hardware any day of the millennium. Is it a replica or an actual WWII rifle? And, I have to ask this: do the Kar98s in Call of Duty, Brothers in ARms, etc sound anything like the real thing?

I haven't gone out to shoot it yet, so I honestly don't know. I've been too sick the past couple of days to even clean the protective oil off of it.

It's an actual WWII rifle. Manufactured at the tail-end in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia and later sat around in the West German Army's stockpiles until the 2000's when it was released to the civilian market.

There was a re-blued M1 Garand at the shop when I went, too, but I didn't have $1500 to drop on it.

Ok so I went home from work last night and my copy of ETW was in the post! Activation day was yesterday so I played for a bit.

Only about 5 hours or so until 2am....not that I am tired now or anything! haha

Anyways, it was very enjoyable, the campaign is alot deeper than previous versions.
Buy it and play it, I personally think its worth the money

GS, how do the ships handle? Are there any odd non-historical units like the screaming women in RTW? Details, man, details!

Just got back from holiday, I went to see Constantinople for my birthday. That poor city is falling apart, it certainly was the queen of cities though, that can still be seen

As for ETW...the naval battles are okay, they are very similar to Imperial Glory's naval battles, just more ships. They are quite slow though, so I only play the important ones, the rest I auto resolve.
The battle ai is not great, but its not terrible. On hard or very hard you need to have a decent amount of soldiers, you cant easily win a battle with half the men of the enemy. The dutch campaign is very cool, you cab conguer India with your VOC troops

The campaign ai is better, still has a few random issues, but I am sure there are some bugs in there that will get ironed out. Diplomacy in general has improved.

It doesnt have the unit variation that I expected, very bog standard unit roster, nothing like NTW's variation.

Its a good game though, looks good, plays nicely and once its been patched to get rid of the little bugs and it gets totally unlocked, it will be excellent. Worth getting

An Ash siting! It's getting to the point now where it's like seeing Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster. ;D

And Imperial Glory naval battles were quite terrible. I remember having to circle forever just to shoot one, ineffective broadside at the enemy, really tedious stuff, and quite unlike anything seen in history. I'm sure ETW's is better, but I'm hoping it's better by a large amount.
