Oh, I'm buying a new laptop. I'm going to try and be a full-time student this next semester. I'm going for my BA in History. Then I'll be going to Athens, Ohio to get my Natural Resources Law Enforcement Officer certification so I can be an LE Park Ranger.

I don't make enough as a firefighter for me, or my girlfriend, to be satisfied.

What school are going to? Chances are you'll have to take mind numbingly boring classes. You'll eventually take some interesting upper level history courses, but you'll first have to get through American history 101 ("This is when the Declaration of Independence was signed, durkah dur!!!"), plus a whole host of bs core classes that have nothing to do with your major, like English and Science. Bureaucracy ftw.

Oh, and you should get a more useful degree, like music. Of course I'm kidding.

I'm more or less confused on why the National Park Service correlates history in to an education program for LE Park Rangers, but whatever. I am super-excited to take the history lessons that will undoubtedly be filled with gang-bangers at the local community college who are interested in their SUPER DUPER EDUMACATION.

Oh, and yes, I would make almost twice as much as I currently am being paid as a Park Ranger in law enforcement. I would still make a lot more than I currently do simply as an interpretive Ranger -- which is just as cool.

Most of them will flunk out before their sophomore year ends. How's that for no child left behind (college addition).

And I'm not saying being a park ranger isn't awesome, but if I was a twenty year fireman vet, and I'd just found out that fricking park rangers get paid TWICE as much as I do, I would be severely pissed.

There are senior firemen, who are at their twenty-year mark that make just a little bit more than me. Firemen in the state of Kentucky don't get paid squat. It doesn't help that a college education doesn't really amount to much, anyway -- which is why I'm looking in to other lines of work. Plus, I want to work somewhere else. My town for my girlfriend and I is boooriiinnng.
