So can anyone tell me, what is the actual battlefield equivalent of having 50 more range? It seems tototally inconsequential to me, as your opponent only has to walk a few feet more to begin firing...

Same with bonuses for combat and stuff; really, we cant ACCURATELY comment on this stuff until we know the mathematical formula for combat! For all we know, combat might be TOTALLY based on charge and melee bonuses, or these bonuses might only make up a TINY percentage of the "math" when compared to terrain and such. Does anyone actually know the "math" of shooting?

Or do we not really want to know, as it might make the game more "stats oriented" if we see the man behind the curtain?

P.S. I love having 3 GGs online and posting, its like a little conversation:)

Well the extra range though slight will help you fire off the first volley which can be very important, and if th eopponent is not paying attention you can fire upon him without him being able to fire back. (I have doen this mistake myself )
I know virtually nothing about battle calculation in this game besides what the unit stats can tell me. I do know that charge bonus is only added for a few seconds after the initial charge. But naturally morale, fatigue , terrain (especially if fighting uphill or downhill or in woods) are big factors. The unit stats we can see can only be a loose guide for which units we want to choose. Then there is that small matter of tactics too...
