I have said this before...and its quite common...the Brit players on MP dont buy Green Jackets anymore...and its really funny to see four KGL lights lol ;D it gives the Brits the label A NOOBIE FACTION four kgl lights? thats alot of light infantry!! lol most I ever buy is three MAX....I know brit players buy them just because they want to win and dont want a challenge...but it just makes you look bad A good thing I see is British Line infantry is coming back which is great...but again...the noobie players buy more KGL Line than british Line...ah...you noob faction players just dont learn do yah? ;D I gotta say the 4 guards and 4 highlanders style in the Brit players has improved alot...I see just 2 guards and 2 highlanders ingame...which is cool to see...and forces the player to use them at the right moment.. I played as the Brits a couple of days ago...and my army was like this: 2 Guards, 2 Highlanders, 4 British Line, 2 KGL lights, 1 Green Jacket, 1 British Light infantry, 2 KGL Line, 2 Scots Grey Ya....BOW DOWN TO ME ALL BRIT PLAYERS!!... I have broken your trend and guess what? I even won with this line up while attacking impressed? Okay Im done chewing apart the Brit Players ;D Cheers

Obviously the British trend isn't about newbies, since veteran players play the 4 Guard/4 Highlander/4KGL Light army often. What it is about is fielding the best possible army for the cash, even if it is not historically accurate.
I have seen this trend of fewer guard units as well, tho; in fact, we have been trying 4 guard max armies (including highlanders) and I have also noticed the return of line infantry, which rocks! Nice work; maybe we can do "4 Guard Max" games more often?
Combine that with the lower florins that we have been playing recently, and I think we might be making NTW a more fun MP experience!

A British army isn't the same without the RGJ's. First in and last out were the green jackets.
I for one have started using them again over the past few days and i intend it to remain that way.

I play brits all the time, and I almost never use more than 2 units of KGL light. Before the guard limit, my army usually looked like this:
4 guards, 4 highlanders, 2 KGL lights, 2 Cacadores, 2 Scots Greys, Brit Dragoon, and one more unit, depending on if I had the arty or not (the dragoon goes If we're playing battery style)
Now, my army looks like this (when I'm playing Brits)
2 guards, 2 highlanders, 4 Brit line, 2 Scots Greys, 1 Brit Dragoon, 2 KGL lights, 2 Green Jackets, and one more unit (usually arty or KGL line)
I'm also enjoying these minor faction games. I have to say that the Austrians are growing on me. ;D

Cool!
I'm starting to like the Spanish and the Portugese.
Have you noticed?
Why are there no Austrian Line?
Hmmmm?

About the "Uber" KGL Lights.... Actually I'll go back to Green Jackets I think since both have melee+defence = 5, KGL have charge bonus 3 and GJ only 2, but GJ have armour 2 instead of 1 (adds to defence in melee and protects from bullets too! Longer lasting sniping power ), and they also have 2 higher honour. GJ are a little more expensive (425 vs 400) but I think the honour and armour makes it worth the higher cost. Of course KGL are very good rifle inf, but IMO not "Uber" compared to other elite rifles. BTW Cacadores also have melee+defence = 5 worse charge bonus than both GJ and KGL but higher honour (1) and armour than KGL at the same cost so... [GG]vD

Hmm... My British Army before I switched to the French was: 1 General 3 British Lights 2 Green Jackets 4 British Line 2 Highlanders 2 British Guardsmen And then either an Artillery Battery, or some Dragoons.
Pretty much One nice sized Regiment, and it worked pretty well until I had to charge uphill against an entire Brigade, that's when I replaced my British lights with KGL lights, since they had a much nicer Range I could actually dent that Brigade so that my Regiment didn't get ripped apart.
FlippyXtrem link=board=Napoleonic&thread=1105367598&start=7#0 date=1105572239]see I win!!
Didn't know it was a competition. And isn't it embarrasing for you Flippy to play with GJ:s since they are actually better than KGL Lights and hence more of a "noob" unit as you would put it? I thought you stood above all such "noobities"? [GG]vD

I was calling people noobs using KGL Lights because the Green Jackets are better than them!! lol ;D I thought it was silly for people to keep buying those Lights when they could have something a little better ...plus I love the Green Jackets...they are a real cool unit with a good history and von I do stand above all lol ;D jk jk ;D also von it was a competition to convince the Brit Players to try to use something new...becuase I was really tired of facing the same Brit army over and over again...when the British Faction have alot of units to choose from... WOOT!! OWNED!! Cheers

personaly i hate Rifles as a whole. There slow, pointless and they drag games out for too long.

I have to say, I played a few games last night where they actually went the way things really go; skirmishers went out first, did their thing, harrassed enemy troops, and it was really a lot of fun!
Personally I like the rifles, but I do wish there could be some way they could be used to kill officers and such... maybe rifles and all could somehow be more "fearful" than other firearms, to simulate the effect that the killing of NCOs and such would have on moral?
Just an idea,
Ash
