Well, first off the Computer AI would use them like archers instead of cav, so that would be a small pain.
Second, they could shoot in every direction.
Third, rarely did the guys actually use their guns to shoot in big open battles, and since that is what the game is usually mean to simulate, I think it was just decided not to bother:)

I think the fact that the cavalry does not have the option of firearms makes NTW2 a poor mockery of the period.

You know, in all of my readings of cavalry and firearms of the napoleonic period, I cannot remember hearing about any sustained use of firearms on the battlefield. Does anyone have any info about this sort of thing? I mean sustained, extensive use on the battlefield, not in raids or whatever.
