Thought since the topic of generals is up that this would be interesting to see what people do most often... I personally have my general be either a actual General staff Unit (only when Ashram hosts because its his RULE or other hosts rules) then I have my general either be a Guards infantry company or a cavalry company...its like this... 40%-cavalry company 40%-guards infantry company 20%-a general staff unit but I personally like him being a Guards Infantry Company now Cheers

Two things: Should we vote on what we usually DO, or what we would do in an ideal situation? Second, in case none of you numbnuts (I love that word!) noticed, I havent required a general unit in AGES, since half the people whine and complain about it, despite the fact that it flies in the face of what I personally think should be mandatory. A little thank you sometime for keeping your preferences in mind would be nice. I'll hold my vote until I know which I am voting for; obviously I feel that a general should be the general, but I wouldnt buy a general unit if it isnt mandatory...

I personally have thanked you at least twice and on several different occasions...hehe
Ironically I think that the Campaign games should have had different Generals at different battles and in the command style.
But hey that's just me.

Well, at least you have manners... what about the rest of those ingrates? Actually, the campaign was originally supposed to have generals. However, given the 4 v 4 nature, and the desired number of units per side for the larger games, I thought that the price of four generals per side would limit the number of combat units by too much:( (Just an aside; as for command style in the campaign, I did attempt to give each commanders corps a slight leaning towards one or another troop type; guard, light, cav. I didn't want to try to make the first campaign a command style campaign, however, because I wanted to A) keep it simple and B) enable us to use multiple factions for the Allies, which would have made command games slightly strange, what with all the line (for example) being English whereas all the Guard units were Dutch or something like that. The next campaign will be divided more along the command lines.) BTW, can anyone say, with TOTAL CERTAINTY, what the effect of the General unit is? I would be curious to know... I know some people say that they have an effect on moral and rallying troops, but I am not sure if this is a completely confirmed detail. Ash

Edited for ContentSorry Flippy, but please keep comments and post like this in the Barracks or [GG] only threads. Okay? I hate censorship. I really do. So, please do not force me to do it with this type of post. I know you were joking with Ashram, but I do not want this sort of thing to get out of hand in a public forum.
Thanks for your understanding Gentlemen.
-TRLHell No...I dont want any freakin CODE of what we must buy for our generals...that would be Editand ash dont be a EditDeleted for content[/img] If its a command game sure go ahead and make us buy a general...if its a campaign game sure again...things can be bent to show how things are....and sometimes if a host demands it then it is to be ...but dont make it a CODE RULE like the NO SHELLING OF GENERALS...that would be not cool....I just put this poll on here to see who likes to buy what for there generals..thats all...Hope you old coots dont get any ideas now....
