I hope everyone out there spent a few minutes, if not more, reflecting on what happened in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, as well as in every plane over North America, and every city, and every town. People lives changed forever. Many children who got up, ate breakfast and went to school soon discovered that their parents were dead, they still live with that.
Not every response in this country was the right one, or even a well-though out one, but we did respond and we still respond vigorously, and in the best way we know how. 9/11 was far from the beginning of global terrorism. It existed actively for years, and it was ignored by previous administrations in a way that encouraged it to become more organized and more brazen. Now, in the last five years, we go and do what we believe we should. And we heartily welcome those Allies, especially the Brits, who have stood by us and taken their own heavy losses. We remember and draw a great deal of strength from the example set by the British people in World War II. No one knows more abt. overcoming the onslaught of an aggressive and deadly enemy than the British. We will always respect you for that.
Many people have had free reigns in abusing, criticizing and insulting President Bush for his actions since 9/11, many more have ignored the deplorable and weak legacy of the Clinton adminstration. Around the world, there are as many different view points of the United States Govt as there are languages and dialects. Some can only believe what they are allowed, some barely have enough facts to even form a reasonable opinion. Some are in it for the power it might gain them, for politcal clout or votes, or just to make themselves feel superior by pretending to know something that no one else does.
Regardless of your personal opinions, or your nationality or your political preference, you live in a world that is now overpopulated and beginning to be stressed to its limits. Wars, large and small have always determined the future of nations and of man as a whole. Some do not know any other way. Where we, the American people are concerned, we dont go looking for war, but when it finds us we wont back down. Even if you are an American citizen who despises your govt., or who thinks that if the military did not exist, there would be no war, you are still affected by people who want what you have, and without any moral backbone, they will do what ever they think of to get it.
If you live in a country that is not a democracy, I can hardly imagine your way of life. No doubt you live in fear and probably in poverty of one form or another. If you think that the United States does not care abt you, youre wrong, and we dont really blame you for it. If you live in a country that greatly limits your freedom, or tells you what to think and what not to say, we hope you will someday know what freedom is, its worth any price and always has been.
We will fight terrorism the best way we know, and that includes educating people as to what a free society really is. You all can hate us, but you wont stop us, we dont ''WANT" anything else,(whether we know it or express it or not) freedom IS everything. Freedom also includes sacrifice. History shows that no matter where you examine it.
In NTW2 we read during the opening screens some very interesting quotes from great military figures of the period. What is most noticeable to me are those of Napoleon, not for his "great military genius", but that he makes it clear that by the thousands, he expects his men to die. And that it is nothing to the cause for thousands of them to do so. This is deplorable. There are still people out there with that lack of respect for life. If you want to do something good for the world, fight that.
Best wishes to everyone and God Bless.
And if you are a terrorist or thinking of being one, we ARE going to get you.
