Well so far I love the game but have been having multiplayer issues.
When I try to play through gamespy, it loads my actual demo. I unintalled the demo, but when it loads by my trying to join a multiplayer game it works flawlessly.
When I play on LAN, the game sets up right, then the game shows up correctly in the way each player sets up his soldiers, but it seems as if a computer is playing as your allies. So basically you are both playing a computer. Its really weird to see screen to screen, especially when you both "beat" each other. Took us about 3 games to figure this out.
Any information?

ARGH!
I was afraid of something like this.
You know what? I also really hate that you cannot choose the same factions as allies.
I'm sorry that I cannot help you Saint. Truth is, I have not been able to join a game yet.
I will get to the bottom of this. LOL

ive fallen in love with the single player. IMO its way better than MTW. If the multi would work right, that would help in that respect...
Anyways, anyone been able to figure out why new campaigns open up ?
(after playing roman campaigns for a while, the greek campaign became available on my dads computer and the carthaginian became available on mine)

I haven't played the game yet since I'm in Sweden where it will be released tomorrow, but from what I have read the other campaigns get playable when you defeat that faction, i.e. to play the greek campaign you must defeat the greeks (and I think play your present campaign to end).

Now that is a cool feature, if true.
Does that mean I get to possibly play as the Spanish, Gauls, Germans and British now? Oh Please, oh please, oh please...let it be true!
Sorry.

Well again I don't know for sure, but all factions are not playable. But I think at least the Gauls, Germans and Birtish are. I read some threads about this in the forums at totalwar.org and totalwar.com. [GG]vD

I think when a playable faction is defeated, you get access.
I looked into the weird multiplayer problem - and its REALLY wierd.
I played a battle with both my computers against the computer. As I moved and set up my men at the start, it worked fine. The computer play differently on each computer! Different things happened, they attacked in different spots, etc. It must not be the only problem though, because I attempted a 1 vs 1 players only on lan, and I was able to "win" with both computers.
Must be some serious synchronization problems.
Anyways, please inform me of any patches / fixes to multiplayer. The single player is a blast as-is.

I've got Rome now and have played it a bit, but...
I really just can't get excited about it. It's true the graphics are stunning, but NTW MP is just more interesting to me.
When I find time, I'll post some thoughts about what I think a Nap era game should be. The technology is there to make a truly stunning and accurate sim, but the market is probably not adequate.

I love RTW multiplayer (when it works).
Saxon and I played some games online, and it was a blast. Once you are in the mutli lobby, its all fun from there.
Theres some problems with single that make it TOO easy to win. For example, you can bribe FULL enemy armies (that arent commanded by a family member) to convert to your side for a mere 8k or so gold. Thats less than it would cost you to make one, plus you dont have to lose any men fighting it. Using this, the SP is a joke (its so easy). Anyways, Ive unlocked tons of countries, i think you can unlock ALL (thats right, ALL)
