Good evening,
Today's battle has been declared a minor French victory. While the French defenders *were* able to hold the Allies back, they did not do so with sufficient troops to delay the English so as to allow their full compliments of reinforcements to arrive.
The Allied army, under the command of the Duke of Ellington, has paused to gather itself and rid the countryside of small pockets of resistance. Meanwhile, General Beauchamp has managed to have some newly equiped and prepared units brought up to help slow the massive Allied advance.
Orders for the next battle (Sunday November 14, 3:00 PM EST) have been sent by rider. Please check your inbox. In addition, please be ready for the third battle to happen approx. 30 minutes after the second ends (i.e once orders have been received.) Please see either myself or TRL for maps on MSN on Monday evening or so.
Any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let me know.

Ash,
Thanks again for all the effort you are putting into this. Despite the difficulties getting started today, it was great fun. I really enjoyed having the different mix of forces and having something different for victory conditions.
I would have to congratulate the allied forces and consider our 'victory' of the slimmest margin.
Looking forward to the next battles!

I might not be able to make the second game; it depends on how soon we finish the first.

Despite all the troubles getting started, I too had a good time. The Allied forces really looked like an unstoppable wave at some points, breaking only in places before getting ready to rush over our heads. Surely enough that happened, but thankfully enough valliant Frenchmen lived to at least slow the invading armies. Honestly, it was an interesting challenge, getting the most out of my force within the greater context; really felt more like one division of an army, or a corps or what have you.
Bux; we should talk if you think you will have a hard time making all the games, either about what times would be better suited for you (starting 30 minutes early, for example) or if you maybe should pick up a partner to play the second game of each series.
I hope people had a good time. More to come.
Please be sure to test your maps out ahead of time; again, maps will go out starting approx. Tuesday
And now we must defend the guns. Comrades, to me!

Okay. Bux, I hope everything is okay with you.
To take Buxford's place at the Prussian command, Irish Brigadier decided to answer the call and lead the Prussians to war.
See you, Sunday, 3:00 PM EST, on the fields of Hortance!

YA WE WHOOPED THE ALLIES GOOD!! WE LEARNED THEM!! WE LEARNED THEM GOOD!! HEY TRL I DONT HEAR THEM BUFFERS RUNNING!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D the battle was interesting..it was nice having a new objective...instead of the LMS... we gave the allies a good licking...we were totally outnumbered and outgunned... the allies suffered heavy causualties removing our 19/20 units from the field... but we barely had any men left...i think it was only 17 men left of young guard... so I thought the battle was a draw... I take it like this: Allies: Clear out enemy skirmishers in 30 minutes Allies Positives: They took out more than 96% percent of the skirmishers from the field...if not more percentage wise... Allies Negatives: They suffered ugly causualties and just a few sharpshooters were left squandering about...these sharpshooters would not stop the main allied column from moving up, however due to the causualties sustained from the skirmish the main allied column would halt at the town...make camp...and lick there wounds... French Objectives: Hold for 30 minutes so that the French Main Column can get into position... French Positives: Held for a good 22 minutes and inflicted heavy losses to a numerically superior foe. Also a few skirmishers were left on the field thus reaching the 30 minute mark... French Negatives: 2/3 of the skirmishing force were either killed or wounded and another 1/3 fled from the field leaving only 17 men to face the allied advance guard...17 men should not be able to stop such a large foe... Therefore from all the facts from the what happend...I would say this battle was a draw...but technically in a very very anal way...its a French Victory...but I dident see it that way... I think in the future if we have more campaigns like this battle with a 30 minute time limit...there needs to be a rule like this...Hold for 30 minutes and have atleast 100 men standing on the field...something like that...because I sympathesize for the allies having to chase 50 men at the end of the battle...WHO WERE MARCHING QUICKLY AWAY...AND NOT HOLDING THERE GROUND....but o well Cheers p.s. VIVE LE EMPERUR!!

Also, yes next time we have a time limit scenario we have to set down some solid parameters for victory/defeat. Still Great Fun! TRL

Buxford has actually had to drop out of the campaign due to other concerns. Therefore Irish will take over his command for the duration.
