S! Gents,
We at the Guards felt we should post the official requirements for being accepted as a probate [gg] as well as for promotion from [gg] to [GG] (full member.)
In order to be considered for possible membership, you must post here at the Recruiting Sergeant in the thread entitled "Sign Up! 14 Shillings on the Drum!"
ntwgg.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=Recruiting
You will then recieve an email from either the Clan Leader [GG] Irish Brigadier, Clan Emissary [GG] ThinRedLine, or one of the Clan Council [GG] Lord Von Doblen, [GG] Tuncarl, or [GG] Lord Ashram. If, after a "getting to know you" period it seems that you are a decent player and a good person, you may be awarded your [gg], indicating probationary status. This is almost like "Rookie" status, as you will be considered a temporary member of the Guards and you will need to then work towards promotion to [GG], which indicates full Guard membership.
In order to be promoted from [gg] to full membership, you must fulfill a few requirements:
1) You must secure a "sponsor." This sponsor must be a full member of the regiment (i.e. full [GG]) who will serve as your advocate, to speak for you in all official considerations of your membership. This is the person who will have the greatest say in judgements of your character and capability. After receiving your [gg]s, you must find your sponsor yourself; you will not be assigned one. Potential sponsors may turn down the sponsorship for any reason at all; if they don't want to sponsor you, they don't have to.
2) You must play two official "Member" games. These games may be of any size, but must include only [gg]s and [GG]s, and must include at least one [GG] who is NOT your sponsor. These are the games where your sportsmanship and capabilities on the field will be most closely scrutinized. Obviously it is in your best interest that your sponsor be involved in the game, but of course you can always play other games with them both to familiarize yourself with them personally as well as professionally (i.e. in how many enemy you kill!) Results from these games, both in terms of winning and losing as well as sportsmanship will be considered and discussed by the appropriate [GG]s towards your promotion.
There is no "time limit" per se for being promoted, but don't expect it to be overnight. Generally the probate period will last at least a month or two. At the same time, if you make no effort towards fulfilling your requirements, we may decide to pass over you and award your [gg]s to another interested player.
Gentlemen, please post any questions here, and I eagerly await taking the field with you all!
For Glory and Eagles!
S!
