Well, I admit I am loathe to speed the British up, as a whole... I really like the way they move forward, a slow red wave... however, I am seriously thinking that British light infantry should be improved upon. Also, please note that GMBs will be increasing in price a good deal (maybe as high as 1000 apiece) so that should help reduce the number of GMBs in an army.
Thank you for the comments of course; what other steps do you think could be taken that wouldnt take away from the overall feel of the game but could help the british out? Maybe even increase the size of British Regulars and Hessians to 120? That might be a bit much tho, as that 20 men seems to make a BIG difference.
Let me know!

Hessians bounce up to 120? Yes, that'd be very nice. Regulars? I would say no to that. If Regulars got a 20 men bonus, then so would Continental's to even it out. Also, perhaps increasing the morale of the British even more? They just don't stand for long in most prolonged battles. They continually run after being skirmished for long enough. And, you should be at work now, Ash. Looking at the GG forums, instead of teaching children. You make me so proud.

I am literally typing this as students sit around me reading and asking me questions and annoying me:) Maybe the Hessians will get a bump in numbers, but that would require a bump in price too, which might make them too close to the Scots and Grenadiers... I am trying not to have units duplicate... keep discussing! Ash

Increasing the size of the units I think is a risky way to go. If you don't want to speed up the brits as a whole then IMO and as you said the british lights should be more on par with the americans. I know what you want to achieve with the slow red wave, but if the wave gets shot to pieces by skirmishers before being able to close in, there is no wave. Increasing the GMB price rather a lot paired with better brit lights will fix a some of this imbalance I think. I still believe though that a ratio of 1:3 regarding the fastest American unit (rifles) and British line and a ration of 2:1 for Continental regulars and British line is a bit on the steep side. The rifles MARCH 50% quicker than, and Continentals as fast as, the British line RUNS! Have you played the Brits much yourself Ash? ;D They move agonizingly slow... [GG]Lord vD

Actually I have played them a ton... I do know what you mean tho... of course everything can be looked at, and I will sit down and look at the stats, such as the speed, again.
Thanks guys, keep the great ideas coming! No way could I do this alone:)

I agree, the British are way to slow. Raise the cost of GMBs, speed the British up a bit (or slow the Americans down a little), and fixe minor graphical glitches, andI'll be happy.

First of all, I have to say this mod is fantastic. I play it much more than I ever played NTW.
However, I would suggest the following changes based on historical reality. Based on the general trend toward Indian-British alliances during the war instead of Indian-American alliances, I don't believe it's very accurate to have Indian units as much of a force for the Americans. The few tribes that did side with the American cause during the war often fought within militia or Continental formations because they were mostly living in reservation-type areas surrounded by European culture. At any rate, the Indians should be much more prevalent among the British than the Americans. I would suggest this be remedied by removing the Indian war party from the American roster and replacing it with a unit such as "Backcountry militia" that would possess a similar ability to hide anywhere, but would possibly have accurate rifles (similar to the suggestion of another gentleman for Kentucky riflemen, but I think it should be more generic than that for the sake of accuracy). This unit could represent the guerrilla style tactics practiced in the Georgia and Carolina frontiers that Cornwallis detested and that bothered Burgoyne's advance toward Saratoga.
As far as the Indians on the British side are concerned, I think it would be better to lower the size of the unit with a corresponding price drop. In situations where the Indians would operate with the British army, they would have been in smaller units with largely scouting, skirmishing and raiding roles. When the British did muster large numbers of Indians (such as the Saratoga campaign) they often wandered around at their leisure with little regard for the commands of the British generals in charge. I think smaller, guerrilla style units might better represent the roles of the Indians fighting for the British.
I would also agree with the preceding suggestion to make the Loyalist militia somewhat faster and undisciplined. For the most part, these men would have been little better than their Patriot counterparts. Furthermore, I think you should consider changing the name of the "Minutemen" to "Colonial militia." The minutemen typically refers to the less organized groups who hastily showed up to take part in battles such as Lexington and Concord or tried to seize powder stores in Williamsburg in 1775. The more organized version that fought in stand-up battles like the unit portrayed in the mod would be more accurately referred to as militiamen.
Anyhow, this is a super mod and I look forward to the upcoming version.
Thanks, Jayhawker

Jayhawkers right about the minutmen.
Minutemen were a ready to go disciplined, trained army. They had been drilling for war since 1774. They were the ones that beat the brits at Lexington/Concord, and gave them a tough time at Breeds Hill. Change the Green Mountain Boys name to Minutemen, the Green Mountain Boys werent a unit type, just an outlaw band that became little mroe than your average partisan group.

Jayhawker may be right about the reality of Indian warparties, but in terms of the 'game', they are great the way they are and I hate to see them changed.

I also enjoy the warparty unit and I think that the Americans should have a similar unit. If you don't want to redo the unit entirely, I think you could get away with just changing the name to "Backcountry militia" or "Frontier militia" and leave the unit stats the same. This way you could still have this interesting unit, but it would more accurately represent Indian/white relations at the time and the more guerilla style tactics of the backcountry.

First, Jayhawker, great to have you around man; it is always nice to have a knowledgable source here:)
I know that the Americans didnt have many Native units... while games-wise I dont want to lose the unit for the Americans, I might change their name to something else, maybe the idea of a Miltia name? Also, the Natives will be getting their own new graphic... since it will be the only new graphic for the mod, it would pain me to only have it available for a single faction:( But this isnt that hard of a change to make! I actually just made some big steps graphics-wise (with some help!) so maybe I can even throw together another new unit to represent the Backcountry Militia? Thoughts?
As for Minutemen/Green Mountain Boys, I am reluctant to touch those unit names... as far as my research shows, Minutemen was the name for militia units for the Americans... the regular soldiers were Continentals. While I know Minutemen improved as the war progressed, I might leave this one simply so I can have both Minutemen and Continental names in-game and so the units are easily identifiable name-wise as Americans. As for Green Mountain Boys, yes Fork I do know that the name is slightly wrong... honestly, I just sort of like the way it sounds:( Can anyone come up with another name?
Thanks for the great suggestions guys, you rock!

how about "olive hill men". ;D
I think that the hessian line unit should be black, as to identify them that they are not part of the brithis army.

Hey gents!
First off, great suggestions. Unforunately, I hate to say this, but for now, the Native Warparties will have to stay as such. While I would like to change them, a requirement of another graphic for the American version of the unit would actually be too much; I have run out of wiggle room with adding more graphics because of certain plans beyond AWI... there are a limited number of graphics the game can take, and I am going be using every remaining slot for American Civil War graphics.
As for the color of the Hessians, that can be done actually... but weren't Hessians blue?
Anyway, more info/websites on Hessians would be nice, so any links you can find would be great:)
Fork, Morik, keep it up guys, I really appreciate the ideas and feedback:)
