I thought I would keep an ongoing post about my current DungeonCrawler characters! Here is my latest guy, Proscotty the Mage! He started with pretty good stats; something like 14 hit points and 18 mana or something... pretty solid! I have stuck, so far, to level 1 Goblin areas... I had an unfortunate run where I cleaned out two different treasure rooms, slaughting a pair of wolfriders and a Mountain Orc in the process, and my reward? A pair of +4 sandals, followed by a pair of +2 sandals. Dammit! I did, however, get my hands on another scroll of Freezing Touch... and decided to try to enchant my axe! One incantation later and SUCCESS! I now wield a Cold Axe, which does some cold damage in addition to its regular cutting damage. A few levels of cold mastery and voila! I also have my Book of Firebolt ready to roll, a really handy +2 wooden shield to keep guys from breaking my skull, some daggers to polish off enemies who are at range and almost dead, and a +3 stilleto to really put a hurting on any seriously big baddie who tries to mess with me! One note; I am sort of hoping that I can start to get into ranged fights more so that maybe I can trend towards Thief-Mage... I would really like to be able to pick up some levels of the Headhunter skill at a cost lower than 4 skill points per level! We'll see, though, as my spells are getting pretty decent... maybe I'll stay a simple Mage, or even trend towards Warrior-Mage? So that is Proscotty the Mage... let's hope I can keep him alive a while! Here is a shot of Proscotty on his way to Dol Amroth...

d**n! Well, too many spiders. I got caught up on level two of a goblin cave clearing out a treasure room; opened the door, and there were two Mordor Orcs and a Mountain Orc. Not good. Killed them, but it took all of my food and healing potions... and then I got hit with a swarm of level 2 goblins and some d**ned spiders... and the poison of the last one killed me! d**nit! You can see a new addition to the game in this shot; a tracker that keeps track of everyone you killed with a character. Oh well... next up, maybe a warrior, or I hope a warrior-thief... love the idea of getting warrior skills with a little headhunter to boot!

Whelp, a new guy has arrived! Hammy the Warrior-Thief... I haven't tried a Warrior-Thief in a while, and certainly not since we got a few more skills into the game... so lets see how it goes! Thought I would post an early photo as I went after a goblin scout guarding a chest with my +3 stilleto; BANG, headshot, and more than 30 points of damage! Bad-ass! And I leveled:)

Hammy has now become a warrior! I wasn't really throwing often, and sure enough over time I trended towards a warrior. Thankfully I managed to buy a few cheaper levels of skirmish and headhunter... from now on it looks like I'll be purchasing cut for awhile! I also got my hands on a +1 Book of Firebolt with which I managed to enchant an Axe... hence the Fiery Axe! My armor is good, shield is nice... here you can see me tromping through Lorien, although I am doing my best to be quiet... you never know who might be watching you from platforms hidden way up in the trees!

Argh! Dead again! However, I have started a new Hammy, who is again a warrior... I have a good feeling about this guy, ESPECIALLY as I found myself a +2 Broadsword in a chest! It might be the best weapon I've ever had in DC, so I am super excited! Check out the damage I did to a poor Greater Barrowwight who was down to 1 hit point when I smacked him in the head! Normally it doesn't do THAT sort of damage, but holy cow! Soon enough it will be off to Mordor! In fact...

Ah ha! I finally ventured over towards Mordor... and ran into some baddies in front of the gates of Minas Morgul! A warg first, followed by a pair of Mordor Orcs... and WACKO! Two headshots dispatched the first two, followed by a headshot on the third guy too! Woo-hoo! Then out from the gates of Minas Morgul ran a Mordor Uruk guard, massive two-handed axe ready... he chopped down at me, smashing through my poor wooden shield and knocking me back! Only after quaffing a pair of healing potions was I able to kill this brute. However, I got a chain mail shirt off of him, so I think it was worth it! More tomorrow!

Well, time to show off a character from A2! This is Bakon the Mage... I found a sword that I enchanted using a Scroll of Freezing Touch... it might not be a + weapon, and it is the lowest level touch spell, but whatever, I whup ass with it! I've killed spiders in Mirkwood, Goblins in the Misty Mountains, and Orcs in the mountains around Mordor... here is a shot of Bakon back in Minas Tirith, visiting the shop of a learned old mage. Bakon tried to enchant a +3 axe with a Book of Firebolt, but it proved to be too difficult, and the books magic was drained with no effect. Oh well, next time! Please note all the A2 changes, including new skills, new inventory list, new mobs, new map items, functional windows, an equipment skeleton... all sorts of goodies! Please come download A2 and give it a try!

Well, Bakon the Mage has become Bakon the Warrior-Mage! After slashing and freezing a bunch of enemies with my Cold Sword, I got my hands on a +5 mace, which I shall refer to as a mace of bashing. I tried to enchant it, but no luck... Bakon the Mage does not have the highest lore. However, I bashed so many guys that I eventually switched classes to Warrior-Mage! I was sort of expecting this to happen eventually, as I've been doing a lot of close combat fighting... I immediately dumped some saved skill points into bludgeon, which went from costing 4 skill points at level one to only 2! Thank god for the half classes! What I wouldn't do to get to a half-thief class and pick up a few cheaper levels of headhunter... Anyway... here is Bakon the Level 4 Warrior-Mage, having fought past Cirith Ungol and now standing on the Plains of Gorgoroth... not a friendly place! The mace is key, and the chain mail and chain leggings (both from dead Mordor Uruks) are huge, but my shield is still pretty crappy... I could really use something a bit bigger; even a simple iron shield would be nice!

I think I'll call this shot: "Thank god for +1 Helmets!"

And I call THIS one... "Thank god for +5 Maces with some bludgeon skill thrown in on top against unarmored opponents!"

A new tactic has emerged! Bakon the Warrior-Mage has picked up a few levels of the Bludgeon skill on the relative cheap (thanks to his half class of Warrior) and has found two +5 maces... one in each hand makes quick, messy work of anyone who gets near! Now, Bakon has been going through healing stuff a bit quickly as he does get hit a lot, but... here is a scary situation I found myself in... I was wandering through Minas Morgul and came to a treasure room with TWO doors; and just as I walked past, the doors opened, and out swarmed a horde of level 6 enemies, namely two Mordor Orcs and an Orc Tracker! Anyway, here is Bakon the Level 6 Warrior-Mage's current kill list... please ignore the Tower Guard, it was a moment of weakness! 73 Orc 47 Thug 42 Wolf 40 Mountain Orc 36 Small Spider 35 Mordor Orc 32 Orc Tracker 14 Goblin 13 Warg 13 Wooden Chest 12 Goblin Scout 12 Strong Wooden Chest 11 Goblin Bully 5 Goblin Wolf Rider 5 Large Spider 4 Greater Goblin 4 Iron Chest 4 Mordor Uruk 3 Crow 3 Easterling Warrior 3 Python 3 Rat 2 Ant 2 Southron Warrior 1 Black Marketeer 1 Cave Troll 1 Goblin Shaman 1 Tower Guard 1 Uruk Lumberjack

How do you deal with a Cave Troll rumbling out of a treasure room and punching you in the head? Like THIS!

Argh!!
Bakon the Warrior hit level eight... and then, dead! I was so upset I didn't even keep his kill list:(
Anyway... next up, Parma the Thief... and I think I'll serve the Lidless Eye!
