here's my current guy; I had a really close call down on level 9 of the orc dungeon...ran into a couple of Mordor Uruks who almost put paid to me (I was down to just a few hitpoints and completely out of potions). I made it out and I'm now wandering around level 4 to restock on supplies before venturing in deeper. You were a level 7 Hamolas the Thug Bane Warrior. nice! here's my latest. I died on level three and decided to respawn and get all my gear back, because the guy who killed me was the last mob on the board, and he was pretty hurt. So I did that, got back some good eq, and moved forward with the new mage. I just encountered and beat a stone troll...that was tough! So i'm heading back up a couple levels to replenish my supplies.

Man, I am SO jealous of that full helm! That is lovely; where did you pick it up? My +2 spiked shield is serving me well, however.
A Stone Troll is a ROUGH rough beastie to run into on such a low level... they are EXTREMELY rare! And I see you ran into an enslaved troll too... not a good day for you! Glad you survived tho...
Next up for me... adventuring down to level four of a goblin dungeon in the hope of finding better gear. I lost my d**ned +1 spear by throwing it at a mean Mordor Orc, who proceeded to pick it up and fight me with it, breaking it in the fight! I was really upset, as I had hoped to enchant it (even though my guy is kind of low on lore.) Can't wait to get back to playing!!
Oh, and I love seeing when you hav eadded new stuff that I haven't checked in yet... I like the skill report in the story mode... you are a d**ned fire mage! You need to enchant yourself a fire weapon now to take advantage of that:)
(BTW... do we need more character graphics? Like one for a mage who has lots of level of fire, or for a warrior with a shield or a warrior with two weapons? Maybe not EVERY special graphic, but a few? Lemme know a list in the dev board)

So... I found a few great items! First off, I found another scimitar and enchanted it with Smouldering Grasp... before I had accidently enchanted TWO scimitars so they were not doing as much damage... I love my Firey Scimitar! I also *gasp* found a pair of War Boots in an Iron Chest! You can imagine my shock at finding a pair of the best non-unique footwear (without any pluses, of course) in the game! My feet are well protected! Add in some new chain leggings and a +2 Demi Helm and I am doing very well. I DID just find a +4 Buckler... should I use it, rather than my +2 Spiked Shield? I am not sure... they both do 3 pierce damage in combat, but the Spiked Shield gives you a block of .2, and the Buckler only .1... I'll have to think long and hard.
So... that is how I am doing! I have really upped my stats, so it is taking me FOREVER to level, but I am getting close to level 5!

Holy crap, that fight was INSANE. How many enemies was that, ten? Jesus.
Dude, your guy had amazing gear. That +2 plate mail is insane. Only problem; no protection against spells in that group:( I am sorry to hear about Saruman... he is a tough bastard. I see Grima isn't on your kill list either, which means he must have been there as well... nasty combo:( Did you come anywhere close to killing him?
Awesome kill list there, though, and you seem like you must have been an unmitigated badass! Very sorry to hear of your death, Orc Bane!

so i'm taking a new tack: focusing on cold skill and using the scroll of Freezing Touch for close combat. I bought a book of firebolt and used it to enchant a stack of 5 light spears. Check out the damage I just did when I walked into a level 1 goblin dungeon:

Anyway, here's my current character. I did a respawn when my previous guy died, so I picked up a freezing touch, and spawned in as a thief-mage with magic missile. I enchanted a buckler I bought with magic missile, and then I ran across a Quality Enchant which I quickly put on the buckler to make a +1 actinic buckler. It's pretty sweet.

Oh, you ran across an enchant, eh? I see something ELSE new is in the game!  Those firey light spears sound excellent... the fire is helpful not only because of the persistent damage, but also because if you are lucky the guys head can catch on fire! Good stuff. The cold spells are generally pretty powerful. They don't have the presistent effects of fire or poison, but they do an awful lot of damage. We still need, I think, to impliment the "freeze into inaction" aspect of the ice spells at some point in the near future. Anyway... sounds good. Touch spells do an awful lot of damage. Ice does seem a very thiefy skill. You should also try to pick up some headhunt skill... I do love that one! |

I don't know what ADOM is, but just look at our screenies and you should get an idea of what to expect:)
Keep in mind, this is a totally from scratch game being made by two guys who have other jobs and entirely for fun, so don't expect too too much:) I hope that the documentation in this forum is enough to get it working... definitely read the Guide and Hints, they will help a lot. But I do hope you can at least get a few hours fun out of it.
Anyway... thanks for giving it a try O, we could use a little feedback.

holy crap, you killed shelob? is that where the spider bane mail comes from? sweet!
I'm working on a level 5 warrior-mage right now...been killing a lot of whatchacallems...barrow wights. I headed over to Minas Tirith to stock up on supplies and am now headed down into a goblin dungeon.
